Podrum Panajotović: An Underground Wine Experience in Belgrade

Ten metres below a Belgrade street, Podrum Panajotović offers something unusual: a working family wine cellar inside the city. The underground rooms stay around 12°C, creating an atmospheric tasting setting—and a reason to bring an extra layer even in summer.

A family story beginning in 1927

According to the winery, the story began in 1927 when Toma Panajotović established a cellar near Kruševac. The property was nationalized after the Second World War, while the family continued making small quantities. Dr Viktor Panajotović revived commercial production in the early 1990s; today Vladimir Panajotović leads the winemaking generation.

This documented history is compelling without embellishment: there is no reliable basis for describing the cellar as a royal supplier.

What is in the glass

The estate works with Traminac, Sauvignon Blanc, Rhine Riesling, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its current range includes Scheherezade, Sauvignon Blanc, Lord, Victor, Victor Barrique and Rosé. Availability depends on vintage and stock, so ask which wines are included in your selected tasting.

Planning a visit

The winery offers booked tours and several tasting formats, generally covering three to six wines with optional food. Prices and packages can change. Confirm the language, duration, food, group size, accessibility and payment terms directly. The cool underground setting may not suit every mobility need, so ask before arrival.
