Subotica
Vinski salaš Čuvardić stands in an old family vineyard on the outskirts of Subotica. The farm preserves a wine cellar from 1928 alongside a newer cellar, and today’s owners represent the third generation of the winemaking family. Tastings take place in the rustic field-keeper’s house or in the garden. For pre-arranged groups, the hosts can combine wine with specialities from the old local kitchen and, by agreement, tamburitza music. Guests who want a longer rural experience can stay overnight in an old farm cottage whose traditional interior has been carefully retained. The salaš operates exclusively by advance notice, so it should be planned rather than treated as a spontaneous stop. Confirm the tasting format, food, music and accommodation separately when booking. The experience is particularly suited to travellers interested in northern Bačka’s farmstead culture as well as its wine.
